Labour-gov’t case adjourned

The Industrial Court in Accra has adjourned to Monday, November 24 the case involving government and 12 labour unions.

The two are contesting manager of second-tier pension funds under the National Pensions Act of 2008.

Government filed the suit after the 12 unions – forming the Forum of Public Sector Registered Pensions Scheme – rejected its proposition to manage the funds, without recourse to the unions.

Though government assured the Forum that its funds are in the custody of the Central Bank, members strongly protested by embarking on a two-week strike.

They have filed a joinder application to government’s suit and have scheduled a demonstration on Thursday, to boot.
