LOC of 9th Africa Armwrestling Championship holds first meeting

The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the upcoming 9th African Armwrestling Championship, held its first meeting on Tuesday, February 13, to commence preparations for the championship, scheduled for the Accra Sports Stadium from 26th-29th July, 2018.

The Ghana Armwrestling Federation (GAF) during its official launch for the championship dubbed “Accra 2018” inaugurated a 16-member team, headed by Mr Kwesi Haizel, a businessman and the president of the Central Regional Armwrestling Association.

Mr William Ezah, the Chief Operations Officer (COO) in an interview with GNA Sports, said the meeting was to deliberate and share ideas on preliminary preparations designed for a successful continental championship.

“It was a well attended meeting. Only few members failed to participate but the deliberations were very smooth.

“The committee deliberated on sponsorships, transportations for officials and teams, immigration and visa issues, hotel accommodation, ticketing and later inspected the Hathramani Hall at the Accra Sports Stadium, earmarked for the championship”.

According to Mr. Ezah, who doubles as the General Secretary for Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) and the Secretary General of the Association of International Press Sports (AIPS-Africa), the committee would soon commence the implementation of the decisions taken at the meeting.

In all about 15 countries are expected to participate in the Championship.
