Pressure group, Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVC), will today seek audience with former President John Agyekum Kufuor to seek his support for a new voters’ register.

The group on Wednesday obtained the backing of former President Jerry Rawlings and his wife for a fresh register for the 2016 polls.

The former President stated that all must be done to engender public confidence in the register before the polls.

“Everything possible must be done to ensure a very credible electoral process if this means that we listen to what the elders are saying...I think let’s do it.

“As a sitting government I think if we feel pretty confident about that register we should have no fears in doing what needs to be done to win the confidence…to take away doubts,” the former military leader stated.

The main opposition New Patriotic Party and the LMVC have been at the forefront of the call for a fresh register ahead of the 2016 elections.

They are seeking support from recognizable institutions and civil society groups to push home their demand.
