Host of current affairs show, Newsfile will once again engage his panel on intriguing topics and news stories that made the headlines during the week.

Samson Anyenini Lardi will empanel veteran journalist, Kweku Baako, MP for Sekondi and Vice-chair of Parliament’s Communications Committee, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, former Deputy Trades Minister, Murtala Muhammed as well as Lawyer Bobby Banson.

Some of the topics to be discussed at length include:

NDC accuses NPP of witchhunt in the case involving Auditor General and EOCO
NDC General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia disclosed in a press conference during the week that: “The attention of the NDC has been drawn to some sinister machinations by the Akufo-Addo government to remove the Auditor General from office."

"Mr. Dumelovo’s crime is that he has dared to take the fight against corruption to the highest levels of the thieving Akufo-Addo government and is insisting on doing the right things in accordance with Ghanaian law,"

The Auditor-General, Daniel Domelevo ordered Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Maafo after uncovering that the latter had made payments to Kroll for no work done, and has therefore asked that the evidence of actual work done by the private firm to be provided.

SOFTtribe vs GWCL

Another development during the week which will be discussed on the show is the raiding of the offices of software development powerhouse, SOFTtribe by National Security operatives on Monday.
The move was admitted and justified by the security apparatus, noting that the operation was done on behalf of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), with the sole purpose of safeguarding the database access “which had been deliberately blocked by the company.”


New notes by Bank of Ghana

Currently trending is the introduction of new notes by the Central Bank, Bank of Ghana.
Some 200 and 100 Cedi notes, as well as 2 Cedi coins, were announced by Governor Ernest Addison on Friday.
The Governor stated in a presser that: “twelve years after the redenomination exercise, sustained periods of high inflation and the perennial depreciation of the currency have eroded, in real terms, the face value of the series of the notes” forced government to take the decision.

Komenda Sugar Factory revived; Dam constructed at Pwalugu

Government also announced a strategic investor to revamp the defunct Komenda Sugar Factory on Tuesday, November 26.

Park Aggrotech Company Limited, a subsidiary of the Skylark Group of companies from India won the bid to manage the sugar factory.

Officials of the Trade Ministry and PwC introduced the investor to the community and formally handed over the facility to the investor.

Also, President Akufo-Addo while addressing a durbar of chiefs and people of the Upper East and North East region of Ghana in Pwalugu announced the construction of a multipurpose dam which will cost 993 million dollars.
