Today on Newsfile, panelists will channel discussions on significant events that took place in the course of the week including the renewed violent clashes at Chereponi which took three lives and left several thousands displaced. Konkomba and Bimoba students of Chereponi Senior High Technical School also had to flee from campus in fear for their lives.

The overlord of the Dagbon state, Yaa Naa Abukari II called for cease fire between Anufuls and Konkombas while government adviced that violence not the path for resolving conflict

Also on dialogue will be the 3 policemen interdicted over assault on Ghanaian Times journalists. Alhough government condemned and apologized for the attack on the reporters, the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has insisted that the offenders be punished.

Interestingly, President Nana Akufo-Addo has promised to deal with growing impunity in Ghana after a video about a driver and his mate assaulting a police officer went viral. The driver and mate who assaulted the police officer have been remanded until April 1, 2019.

MIDLAND ASSAULT CASE: Lance Cpl. Fredrick Amanor was back at post. It can be recalled that he was the police officer who assaulted a lady at a Midland Savings and Loans branch in Accra. However, Director-General of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, ACP David Eklu confirming the news stated that “internal disciplinary processes” are still ongoing after the assault which occurred in July 2018 but added that any individual aggrieved by the police’s handling of the case can head to court.

Political financing has, on the other hand been fingered as the root cause of corruption in Ghana. Following a two-year advocacy campaign and a lawsuit led by CitizenGhana Movement (CGM), the Electoral Commission of Ghana has released the financial accounts of all political parties, marking a significant step towards transparency and accountability.
