Today's edition of Newsfile promises to be engaging as details of issues that made headlines in the course of the week are discussed.

The Menzgold brouhaha seems to have no end in sight as customers who stormed their premises nationwide seeking to retrieve their dividends as promised were left disappointed.

The company closed down all its branches making it impossible for customers who were scheduled to receive their dividends to get their money. The deputy PRO for the company attributed the closure of the branches to intel they received about some customers scheming to harm their staff.

To make matters worse, the PRO of Menzgold, George Quaye resigned barely two months after taking up the job. This raised many eyebrows as the company is still struggling to pay its customers since the impasse with BoG and SEC began.

Former President Mahama also kick-started his tour of the Northern Region as part of his strategy to gather support for his re-election bid. Whilst there, he has chastised government for failing to deliver on several promises.

He jabbed Vice President Bawumia's handling of the economy and lambasted the President for his approach on the implementation of Free SHS.

Also in the news this week has been the back and forth between the Minority and the government over the decision not to increase Cocoa prices in the country.

Government maintained the price at GHC7,600 citing falling Cocoa prices and low revenue but this hasn't gone down well with the minority who accuse government of engaging in unnecessary expenditure.

They accuse the sector Minister, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto of spending close to GHC1million to renovate his house at the expense of the Cocoa farmer.
