Former Director General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Ernest Thompson together with three other persons have been cited for causing financial loss to the State by EOCO in ongoing investigations of the infamous $72 million software scam. The four are expected to be hauled before court to answer the charges soon.

Some former government officials who have been named to have taken double salary under the Mahama-led government are currently being investigated by the Police CID. A total of 25 ex-appointees were initially invited by the CID for questioning over allegations of having received double salaries as MPs and ministers, a claim most of them have denied. 18 of them were reportedly later asked to disregard the invite by the CID.

President Nana Akufo-Addo Friday presented to Parliament, a list of the total number of employees at the Presidency. The release of the list is in compliance with Section 11 of the Presidential Office Act, 1993 (Act 463), which requires the President to submit annually to Parliament, a report on the staffing position of the Office of the President.

The breakdown was given as nine ministers of state, 27 presidential staffers, 256 other/junior appointees and 706 employees of public/civil service staff.
