The Public Accounts Committee is holding its fourth sitting today in Parliament on the performance Audit of the Auditor General Report for the year 2016.

Managers of some state institutions are being grilled on their operations headed by the Chairman of the Committee, James Klutse Avedzi.

Foreign Affairs Ministry, Gender, Interior and Defense Ministries have already taken their turn before the committee.

Today, officials from the Food and Agriculture Ministry, Ministry of Power, Trade and industry and Works and Housing Ministries will be responding to questions from committee members.

Standing Order 165 of Parliament assigns to the Public Accounts Committee, PAC, the examination of the audited accounts showing the appropriation of funds granted by Parliament to the government.

In the wisdom of Parliament, the PAC is one of the only two committees of the House chaired by a member from the minority side of the Legislative body. This is to deepen the mandate of the committee in scrutinising properly, the audited accounts of government institutions.
