President John Dramani Mahama has sworn-in Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie as Ghana’s new Chief Justice at the Jubilee House on November 17, 2025, following Parliament’s approval of his nomination on November 13, 2025.

Justice Baffoe-Bonnie, nominated on September 23, 2025, has built an extensive career across the High Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court.

He has been serving as Acting Chief Justice since April 22, 2025, after the suspension and subsequent removal of Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.

During his vetting on November 10, 2025, Paul Bafffoe-Bonnie pledged an open, bipartisan leadership style and reaffirmed his commitment to judicial independence and expanding access to justice.
