The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohamed-Mubarak, is briefing the nation on the investigations into the 2020 and 2024 electoral violence on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
Following his inauguration on January 7, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama ordered the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to investigate electoral violence from the 2020 and 2024 general elections in Ghana.
The probe, initiated on January 10, 2025, aimed to address violent incidents, including shootings and clashes that resulted in at least eight deaths in 2020 and three in 2024, as well as injuries to political activists, bystanders, and journalists.
The investigation utilised forensic evidence, eyewitness accounts, and input from the Electoral Commission.
A comprehensive report was submitted to President Mahama on August 29, 2025, which he handed over to the Office of the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice.
Muntaka is expected to brief Ghanaians about the status of the prosecution of some of the people implicated in the report.
