These are live updates from the #StopGalamsey protest happening right now in Accra.

The protesters are currently at the 37 Military Hospital Roundabout; the numbers still remain the same, with moderate security guarding them.

The group is currently at the airport bus stop in Accra, slowly making their way toward Revolution Square, which is located directly opposite the presidential seat of government, Jubilee House.

The demonstration, led by activist and private legal practitioner, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, is pressing for urgent government action to end illegal mining activities, which protesters say are destroying water bodies, farmlands, and livelihoods across Ghana.

Organisers say their goal is not only to highlight the dangers of "galamsey" but also to hold leaders accountable for failing to enforce existing mining regulations.

The outcome of today's demonstration is expected to shape future engagements between activists and authorities on the "galamsey" issue.

We will continue to bring you live updates as the situation develops.
