LIVE UPDATES: Ghana vs Tunisia (2019 AFCON)

Hello once again. Ready? A final spot in the quarter-final stage of the 2019 AFCON is up for grabs as the Black Stars of Ghana clash with the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.

It’s a clash of two nations with rich history between them but with six wins and one draw in seven appearances, statistically, the Black Stars have the upper hand heading into this game.

Like South Africa and Benin, Tunisia made it to this stage as one of the third-best placed teams and will be taking inspiration from the two nations who against all odds managed victories against powerhouses Egypt and Morocco respectively.

The strength of the Tunisians lie in their solidity and resoluteness at the back and the simple task for Ghana is breaking down a defence that has not conceded a goal in the first 45 minutes of their last eight matches.

The Black Stars have tasted just one defeat in their last ten matches and could make it one out of eleven with a victory today.

Ghana’s captain Andre Ayew has sent a warning to their opponents, stating that “Tunisia will fall in Ismailia on Monday. Football is not only about tactics, it is also about being united as a team and competing for every ball. We have to be smart too and I have no doubt that the boys will deliver against Tunisia and reach the quarter-finals.

But Tunisia coach Alan Giresse thinks otherwise. ““Egypt and Morocco’s exit is a big surprise and we will give everything tomorrow [Monday] to continue in the tournament. Ghana is a strong and harmonious team. They have competition in most of the positions but we have analyzed them well and we can work on their weak point.”.

Ghana’s line up is already out and coach Kwesi Appiah has made one change to the side that defeated Guinea-Bissau 2-0 in the final Group F game.

Midfielder Afriyie Acquah has replaced striker Kwabena Owusu who made his first Ghana start in that game.
