Disinfection of cargoes entering or leaving the country has commenced at the Meridian Port Services (MPS) Terminal and the Port of Takoradi.

LCB Worldwide Ghana, the company in charge of the project has moved to both points and are vigorously carrying out the task of disinfecting all cargoes in accordance with World Health Organisation (WHO) regulations and standards.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of LCB Worldwide Ghana, Mr. Kareem Abu in an interview with BestNewsGH.com averred that the company is fully prepared and equipped to undertake the exercise at the two points.

According to him, the company has been well-positioned to contain the expansion of its mandate which is to cover market centres and schools across the country.

Mr. Kareem Abu intimated that LCB Worldwide Ghana was poised to offer its best to ensure that the country is kept safe from disease and contamination.

‘’ We know what our mandate entails and we will not renege on that at all. We know how crucial this exercise is and we are up to the task. We are even more excited that we are going to be moving into the various market centres and schools across the length and breadth of this country to ensure that we disinfect them’’ Mr. Kareem Abu averred.

Mr. Kareem Abu was full of praise for government for taking steps to ensure that the country remains safe and is protected from disease and contamination.

The disinfection of cargoes at the entry and exit points including the ports is a requirement by the World Health Organisation and Ghana has been lauded internationally for taking the lead to enforce the International Health Regulations.

Many stakeholders are of the view that the country stands to benefit largely following the extension of the mandate of LCB Worldwide Ghana to cover schools and market places across the country.

Government through the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service has worked at ensuring that the country stands fully prepared and in readiness to deal with any threats of disease and contamination.

The World Health Organisation has commended Ghana for taking the bold initiative to implement International Health Regulations by carrying out the disinfection of cargoes at the ports and points of entry and exit.

Information available to this website indicates that some other African countries are seriously contemplating replicating the same project in their respective countries.
