Kwesi Botchway gets Nima NDC's Support

The Democratic Youth for Change, an Accra-Nima based group supportive of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) group has called on the party to endeavour to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past by imposing candidates on the people.

The group has, therefore, called on the party to elect persons who derive their support from the grassroots as presidential and parliamentary candidates in order to enhance its chances of recapturing power in the 2004 elections . This was contained in a statement issued by the group and signed by Messrs Kwame Joshua, Ilyasu Yusha, Abu Issah; Mohammed Baba, Adamu Swallah, others are Iddrisu Victor, Bashiru Mamoud, Abu Safiyanu Lari, Ibrahim Adam and Kabutey Doku and all members of the group.

The group has also commended the party for the manner it conducted its last congress to elect its national executive which, according to them, was contrary to beliefs that the party would disintegrate after congress.

They observed that the choice of Dr Kwesi Botchway as the party’s flagbearer stands the better chance of propelling the NDC to victory in 2004 elections. The group has, therefore, endorsed the candidature of Dr Kwesi Botchway to lead the party into victory in the 2004 elections and has called on party faithfuls to throw their weight behind him.

The group also lauded the democratic changes in the party and pointed out that this would accelerate the pace of active participation of the rank and file in decision-making of the NDC and thus lend a big boost to the party’s quest for power in the 2004 elections.
