Kwamena Bartels peddling falsehoods -Minority

Accra, Nov. 4, GNA - The Minority in Parliament have called for the resignation or removal of Mr Kwamena Bartels as Minister of Information and National Orientation because of his conduct and penchant for peddling falsehoods.

"We believe this is dangerous and injurious to the national good, and if left at the said Ministry he may cause further damage to the unity and integrity of this country," a statement signed by Deputy Minority Leader, Mr Doe Adjaho has said.

The Minority warned that if the government failed to heed the call to remove the Minister it would advise itself as to constitutional options that were opened to it in the matter.

The statement referred to the Press conference held by the Minister on October 31, in which Nana Sefa Twum of Kasapa FM in London was linked with a question to the former President on the coup allegation.

According to the Minority, Mr Bartels said the Former President gave a categorical answer to a question as follows: "If the lies, atrocities and corruption that has bedevilled the Kufuor Government in Ghana continued, there would be a coup to arrest the injustice going on."

The Minority said Nana Sefa Twum who had been alleged to ask the question had denied categorically the attributions made to him by Mr Bartels.

This denial according to the Minority was an exposure of falsehood contained in Mr Bartel's Press Statement and "unbecoming of a Minister of State who swore an oath to serve the country in Honesty and sincerity."

The statement said, It is becoming clear to all discerning Ghanaians that, "Mr. Kwamina Bartels has a penchant for spreading lies and falsehood," and this is 93unbecoming of a Minister of State who has sworn an oath to serve the country in honesty and sincerity.
