Kwahuman Europe Foundation Calls For Peaceful And Fair Elections

Kwahuman Europe foundation, the unified voice of Kwahu citizens in the Diaspora, over the week-end called for peaceful elections in Ghana on December 7th when Ghanaians will be called upon to once again participate in the Democratic dispensation of the country.
Speaking in Brescia-Italy, at a meeting of the Kwahu Community, the President of the Foundation, Dr Abena Agyepong Keller called on all Political Leaders, Opinion leaders, Commentators, the Media in print and broadcast, to preach National Unity, maturity and Peace, before, during, and after the upcoming elections. She said Ghanaians in the Diaspora were keenly following events leading to the elections and were concerned about the often negative and hostile political climate being created in the country. She called on all Ghanaians to exercise their rights to vote wisely and stay away from situations of conflict provoking and inflammatory actions when the time comes for them to exercise their democratic rights.
Ghana, she said has become a beacon of democratic process in sub- saharan Africa as has been demonstrated in past years with the peaceful handover of power after elections.
The focus of the elected President, she said will be to bring the Nation together, ending the usual daily and all year political wrangling. A civil courage and political will is needed to tackle issues currently facing the country and average Ghanaians head-on.
The General meeting, saw the attendance of local Kwahu Associations from Milano, Verona, Modena, Reggio-Emelia, Mantova, Bergamo and Brescia, the host.
Among the issues discussed was the unity among Kwahus and how to support the Foundation in achieving its goals and objectives of helping to develop the Kwahu Traditional area.
She called on Executives and Members to interact with each other with respect and dignity, as that is the building block of any lasting and meaningful relationship. In conflict situations, which will most likely occur, they are to remember that one can “disagree to agree”, but must always remain committed to the task and the oath taken to execute their responsibilities to each other, Kwahuman and Ghana as a whole.
On the upcoming Fund Raising Event on 22nd December 2012, in Zurich- Switzerland for the Atibie Hospital and the Schools in the Kwahu traditional area, the members assured the President that the various Kwahuman Associations in Italy will storm Zurich in their numbers in full force to help make the event a success.
All Ghanaians, friends and sympathizers of Kwahuman are welcomed to the event. The DJ of the night D J BOBBY of Brescia, who was at the meeting, promised to keep the old and young on their feet, heralding in a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
In his closing remarks, the acting President of Kwahuman Italy Mr Anthony Kissi of Verona thanked the General Assembly and looked forward to their election of Permanent National Executives next year

He finally thanked Dr Abena Keller-Agyepong for taking some time out of her schedule from Zurich and throwing additional light on activities of the Kwahuman Europe Foundation and boosting the morals of the members in Italy.
