Kufuor holds talks with Kenyan President

Nairobi, Feb.16, GNA- President John Agyekum Kufuor on Monday held bilateral talks with the Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki behind closed doors in Nairobi.

President Kufuor made a stop-over in Nairobi on his way home after attending the first African Peer Review Mechanism Forum and the 9th NEPAD Heads of State and Government Implementation Committee (HSGIC) meeting in Kigali, Rwanda over the week-end.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Minister of Foreign Affairs briefing newsmen on the meeting said the two leaders re-affirmed the historical links between both countries in the fight for African Unity.

He said they agreed that since the struggle for independence by both countries, they had in addition been in the forefront of the success of democratic rule in Africa and should forge ahead in partnership for development.

Nana Akuffo-Addo said the two leaders also stressed the need for Ghana Airways and Kenya Airways to form strategic alliance in the airlines industry to exchange ideas and experiences to improve on their operations and become viable airlines on the Continent.

In Kigali, President Paul Kagame also paid a courtesy call on President Kufuor in his suit behind closed doors.

Although details of the meeting were not disclosed, they were believed to centre on bilateral relations between the two countries. President Kufuor had since then returned home.
