Former President John Agyekum Kufuor, left Accra Wednesday night for Paris, France to attend two separate conferences on Climate Change and investment opportunities.
Former President Kufuor will first speak at the international Climate Change conference by the coalition of ‘Progressives for Climate’ at the French National Assembly which will discuss national and international solutions to climate change.
Participants are expected to bring out new ideas and put together some proposals to tackle climate change, without compromising the objectives of social justice and human development.
The outcome of the meeting will be presented to the World Summit on Climate Change to be held next December in Paris where legally binding agreements will be reached among nations in the fight against climate change.
The meeting to be opened by French Foreign Minister, Mr. Laurent Fabius, will be addressed Mr. Karl Offmann, Former President of Mauritius and Mr. Ricardo Lagos, Former President of Chile, among a host of climate change experts from across the world.
Former President Kufuor will speak on “What new political dynamics are needed to reach an effective agreement in 2015?” and will highlight the need for concerted political action among world leaders to help combat the devastation of by climate change.
At the Investment Forum being organized by the Meridiam Group, an investment advisory body, Former President Kufuor will speak on the need for governments and businesses to team up in the fight against climate change.
He will be away for about 10 days.
