Kufuor broke our hearts – NPP supporters cry out

Some irate New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters have burst into tears on the streets of Accra, crying their hearts out to express disappointment over the participation of former President John Agyekum Kufuor at the swearing in of President John Mahama.

The group could not comprehend why the ex- president partook in the inauguration of President Mahama, whom they accused of rigging the elections.

Amid yelling and tooting of horns, the supporters who were clad in red told Citi FM in Accra shortly after the inauguration that “we are disappointed in President Kufour, he broke our hearts. In fact some of us have regretted joining the NPP”.

Another supporter who pleaded for anonymity reiterated: “we were begging him [Kufuor] not to go but he ignored us. He did not demonstrate to us that he loves us just like we do”.

The supporters who were reportedly drawn from Kasoa in the Central Region besieged former President Kufuor's residence early hours on Monday protesting his decision to attend the swearing-in ceremony of President Mahama, but Mr Kufuor defied the pressures to attend the event.
