Kufuor: Ghanaians must be critical of gov’t

Former President John Kufuor has challenged Ghanaians to be critical of government.

According to him, that is the only way to keep the government on its toes.

Speaking on the MORNING STARR with host Kafui Dey, the former President said although Ghanaians should be proud of the democratic credentials of the country, they must demand more from their governments.

“At least Ghana is a democracy, and people are free to express themselves. The high-handedness that used to be the case earlier times, is not here”.

He continued: "the only thing is, let us, as citizens of this land be critical of our governments. Let us know that it is, through our votes, that governments are made and through the voting, we can unmake governments".

“ And if we are dissatisfied with governments, we should never forget that anytime, we can make our governments know that we can make and unmake them,” he stated.

Kufuor, who ruled Ghana for 8 years, turns 76 years today.

He said he managed to spend his life out of active politics by reading and listening to good stories and music.
