Kufour Endorses Lawlessness In Ghana

... as he supports Osafo Maafo, O.B. Amoah & others for refusing EOCO invitation.

TCCL News Desk Report

Once again, the ex-President of Ghana, Mr. John Diawuo Kufour, has amply exposed his evil character he is made of before the whole world, following his unfortunate comment about the African Cup of Nations (CAN) 2008 judgment debt in an interview he granted to the media recently.

Speaking to a section of the media in Accra, Mr. Kufour, who had abruptly terminated the of contract headed by Alfred Agbesi Woyome, resulting in the financial loss of ¢580.00 to the state, was extremely excited that his former Ministers, who have been implicated by the scandal, have refused to cooperate with the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), which is investigating the issue. Speaking in Twi language, he said, “It is very disturbing. For such an amount to be paid from the consolidated fund, it is like our systems are not working. Where did that money come from?” He continued, “These are the people who said there was no money in the national coffers when they came into office. Attorney General (A-G) is suspect of the matter. EOCO is a subset of A-G, which is the first suspect in this case, so why should they honour invitation from EOCO?”

Clearly, former President Kufour has supported the destructive position Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, the torch bearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has always wished that the country would be ungovernable this year when the electoral fortunes are not favourable to him.

The NPP flag bearer on his campaign tour of the country called for bloodshed (all-die-be die) by charging the NPP youth to adopt confrontational approach in this year elections. In his reaction to Mr. Kufour’s call for anarchy in the country on an Accra-based radio station, Asempa fm on Friday, Dr. Tony Aidoo, the Head of Policy Monitoring and Evaluation Unite at the Presidency, took Kufour to the cleaners, describing him as the most lawless, unprincipled and corrupt human being ever to be born on this planet. According to Dr. Aidoo, it was not that Kufour as President of this nation put aside the Constitution of the country ruled to satisfy his wishes against the wishes of majority of Ghanaians.

He maintained, “It is not surprising Kufour endorses lawlessness. This is the man who uses his power to set aside contract. The NPP does not use rule of law even though you hear them preaching all the time. For someone who has been President and pledged to defend the Constitution, how can you use presumption of bias, where there is no evidence. Being a President does not mean he is above the law.” On Radio Gold on Friday, the Deputy Interior Minister, Mr. Kobby Acheampong, and the Executive Director of Free Zone Board, Mr. Kojo Twum Boafo, supported the comment made by Dr. Aidoo.

According to Mr. Twum-Boafo, “He went against the Constitution. From what I’m reading, the cabinet is indicted. For former president to say that his former Ministers are right in not going to EOCO is not acceptable. If they have nothing to fear, why are they refusing to go. Kufour is the brain behind all these mess.”

Twum Boafo asserted, “Ex-President Kufour has not spoken well at all. Kufour sets up the National Reconciliation Commission and invited Rawlings to attended. Rawlings attended. Kufour should not support Akufo-Addo to make this country ungovernable. He should encourage his people to attend. He should not encourage lawlessness. What the Ex-President and his men are doing is not good for law enforcement agency.”
