The Krachi Traditional Area Paramount Chief, Nana Mprah Besemuna III, has distant his traditional area from the campaign calling for secession of the then Western Togoland from Ghana.

He emphasised that his traditional area has no affiliation with the secessionist group, Homeland Study Group, which is championing the campaign, hence, does not support their campaign.

He said this when addressing the Volta Regional Minster, Dr Archibald Letsa, at his Palace in Kete Krachi in the Krachi West District.

“We want to tell you [Dr Letsa] emphatically that we have nothing to do with Western Togoland, western whatever or Volta being a state by itself. They came here we drove them away but they talk as if it is the whole of the Volta Region that is doing that”, he said.

He detailed that Krachi traditional area is an integral part of Ghana and has no intention of breaking away from Ghana and gave a strong caution to the Homeland Study Group not to included Krachi in the earmarked area for the secession.

“We belong to Ghana, they shouldn’t add us to that campaign. Krachi has nothing to do with Western Togoland. We belong to Ghana, we prepared to stay in Ghana and if there are problems, we solve the problems in Ghana.”
