Kpone Develops 156-Acre Land For Industries

Kpone (Greater Accra), 12 Nov.,

The Tema Development Corporation (TDC) is developing a 156-acre industrial site at Kpone to provide land for investors who want to establish industries in Ghana including the industrial free zones. The breakdown of the project cost is 180 million cedis for electrification, 650 million cedis for extension of water, 2.7 million cedis for road network and 1.3 million cedis for drainage and curbs. Mr. Ebenezer T. Ayi-Bonte, Managing Director of the TDC, disclosed this at a briefing of journalists at the site today. He said the TDC aims at solving the land needs of investors who have shown interest in establishing industries in Ghana including those who wish to have facilities in the free zone areas. Mr. Ayi-Bonte said as part of the project, the TDC is establishing a modern car market where all car dealers in Tema will be resettled, the car market which will be completed by the end of this year, will have facilities like fuel filling station and a cafeteria and other facilities which will make it a first class commercial area. The next phase of the project which will be the development of 230 industrial plots will be completed in April 1998. Mr. Ayi-Bonte said even though the industrial plots are quite expensive, this should not rpt not scare investors since TDC has made provisions for payments in installments.
