The 2024 edition of the Kpeledzo Festival of the people of Nungua Traditional Area has been launched at a well-attended ceremony.

The festival, which was launched in Nungua, a suburb of Accra, is under the leadership of Oboade Notse King Professor Odaifio Welentsi III, the Paramount Chief of Nungua Traditional Area, Wor-Lumor Konor Nuumo Borketey Laweh Tsuru XXX III, Gborbu Wulomo Shitse and Overlord of the Gadangme State and Nii Bortey Okplen Jelesana II, Nungua Oblantai and Kyedom Mantse of Nungua Traditional.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Paramount Chief of Nungua Traditional Area,Oboade Notse King Professor Odaifio Welentsi III, appealed to indigenes and residents of Nungua to celebrate the Kpeledzo Festival in peace and happiness, devoid of fighting.

The Traditional ruler also called on his subjects to promote the history, culture and good image of Nungua to the rest of the world.

The Paramount Chief of Nungua Traditional Area took the opportunity during the launch of the festival to thank the Ministers of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Information, Gender and Children Protection, Attorney General and Justice, the Ghana Police Service and Child Rights International for their intervention and peaceful resolution of Naa Yoomo Ayemuede's purported marriage to Gborbu Wulomo of Nungua.

Traditional Area in his delivery, urged Gadangme youth and Greater Accra youth to cooperate with their chiefs and elders to make the celebration of this year's Homowo festival peaceful.

He called on officers of Ghana Police Service to maintain law and order during the celebration of the festival and arrest persons who would cause trouble before, during and after the festival.

Oblantai and Kyedom Mantse of Nungua appealed to corporate bodies operating in Nungua to support the celebration of the festival through cash and kind.

Nii Kwatei Titus Glover, the Greater Accra Regional Minister in his remarks, urged indigenes of Nungua to celebrate the Kpeledzo festival devoid of National Democratic Congress ( NDC) and New Patriotic Party ( NPP) politics.
