Kotoko to coronate 22nd trophy with Arsenal Match

Runaway league winners Asante Kotoko will coronate their 22nd league title on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium as they come face-to-face with Berekum Arsenals in the 26th Glo Premier League fixture.

The Porcupine Warriors will play this match without their influential midfielder Michael Anaba who has received three yellow cards but Maxwell Konadu who has build an envious empire in his first season with the red army still have the men to do the job for him.

The league leaders with 55 clear points are miles away from Berekum Arsenals who has only 25 points and are thirteenth on the log. The giant from the Brong Ahafo has nothing on the score cards to scare Kotoko as they used to do in the recent past.

At the Nana Gyamfi Park in Bekwai, New Edubiase united will play as host to the Glorious Accra Hearts of Oak. Edubiase is seventh on the ladder with 36 points whiles Hearts is third with 40 points.

Hearts were not too convincing to watch last Wednesday when they beat division one side Dunkwa united by 2 – 1 at the Accra Sports Stadium and coming to play Edubiase at Bekwai where the oldest woman on the street could tell you that Baffour will either score one or two means coach C.K Akunnor has a difficult task ahead.

The scientific soccer lads Liberty Professionals will welcome the soccer miners, Ashantigold to the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman. Liberty is eighth on the ladder with 36 points whiles the soccer miners are second with 41 points.

Ashantigold are yet to lose a match since the second round resumed and would want to leave the Carl Reindorf Park with that bragging right still alive but Liberty would love to gain all the three points at stake.

At the Tarkwa T&A Park, Medeama Sporting Club will play as host to Tema Youth. Medeama is sixth on the log with 36 points whiles Tema Youth on the other hand is eleventh with 29 points.

Medeama have put up a good performance in the second round and playing in front of their home supporters will be enough psychological booster to cause havoc to Tema Youth who need a win to move them far from the relegation zone.

Wa All Stars will play as host to the wounded Kpando Hearts of Lions at the Wa Park. All Stars are masters of the game at their back yard but if Lions should also lose this match it will be a big blow to them.

All Stars is ninth on the table with 35 points whiles Hearts of Lions is twelfth with just 28 points and leaving the Wa Park without a point could push them further down the ladder.

At the Agyeman Badu Park in Dormaa, Aduana Stars will host their regional partners Bechem United. Aduana Stars is fifth on the log with 37 points whiles Bechem united is second from bottom with just 23 points.

On Saturday however, the embattled mysterious Ebusua Dwarfs will face relegation battler’s Mighty Jets at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman. Dwarfs are tenth on the table with 32 points whiles Mighty Jets is fifteenth with 23 points.

The match between African Champions League campaigners Berekum Chelsea and Wassaman united has been rescheduled to next Wednesday because of Chelsea’s match against Cameroonian side Cotton Sport Garoua on Sunday.
