Kormantse welcomes Asamoah Boateng home

Kormantse, July 6, GNA - Hundreds of New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters, friends and relatives of Mr. Stephen Asamoah-Boateng, former Minister of Information and National Orientation gave him and his wife, Zuleka, a rousing welcome when they returned to Kormantse at the weekend.

They were from Accra where Zuleka attended a court on charges of assaulting personnel of the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) and preventing them from performing their official duties at the Kotoka International Airport last month.

The BNI prevented the couple and their two children from traveling outside on that day because Mr Asamoah Boateng was to see the BNI the following day.

Mr. Asamoah-Boateng expressed thanks to the people for the support given them and said they believed in the rule of law and that since the matter was before court, they would reserve their comments. Mr. Asamoah Boateng appealed to their supporters to remain calm and wait for the court judgment.

He appealed to the NPP to stop the in fighting over who should lead the party in the 2012 general election and concentrate on how to build a formidable party.

Mr Asamoah Boateng said there are thousands of people who are capable of leading the party and appealed to supporters to bury differences and unite to build the party to win the 2012 elections. On President Barak Obama's visit to Ghana, Mr. Asamoah Boateng appealed to Ghanaians to desist from acts that could tarnish "our much treasured hospitality."

He said the visit was for all Ghanaians and not for a section of people and urged all to support the government to make it a success. Zuleka expressed gratitude to all those who turned up at the court in Accra to give her moral support.

Mr. Felix Nyako-Antwi, Mfantseman West constituency vice-chairman of NPP, urged the supporters to learn from mistakes that caused the party to lose the 2008 election in other not to repeat them in 2012.
