Korle Bu Teaching Hospital launches innovation summit 2020

The Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) has launched the maiden edition of the Innovation Summit; a conference which showcases new initiatives by some staff of the hospital to solve patients’ medical problems, powered by robust technology.

“Because of limited resources or lack of resources, departments are finding innovative ways to help solve the problems of their patients, and we think everybody must know about this,” Dr. Ali Samba, the Director of Medical Affairs stated in an interview with GhanaWeb.

The Innovation summit was held Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at the School of Biomedical and Allied Health Science, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

Some medical professionals presented their variant medical solutions to the hospital’s board, moderators and other staff members.

Dr. Lily Wu, Mrs. Sandra Asante and Charles Anachanser presented EVAR, the first Endo Vascular Aortic Aneurysm Repair in Ghana, improving functional ADLS and quality of life of children and cares with development delay using APT, and the implementation of an electronic payment voucher tracking system & electronic letter tracking app system respectively.

Other presenters were Grace Owusu Aboagye from the Psychiatry Team, Francis Ansah Sasraku from the Biomedical Engineering Unit Team, and Dr. Bernard Morton representing the Renal Transport Team.

These innovative ideas presented by the staff of the hospital has been tried and tested and have proven to be a ground-breaking solution to some medical problems.
