Koforidua residents rubbing numbering on houses

Koforidua, Sept 29, GNA - Numberings on houses and structures in the New Juaben Municipality, to facilitate the ongoing Population and Housing Census, were being cleaned deliberately by owners of the facilities.

Some enumerators reported to the Census Secretariat at Koforidua that the numberings were intentionally rubbed by the people whiles a few others were cleaned by rains recently.

The enumerators said that the development if not checked, could make their work difficult since they would have to refer to their maps to locate houses and structures.

Mr Abakah Ansah, Municipal Director of the Statistical Service, in an interview with GNA, expressed worry about the trend of events despite the public education that the numberings were not aimed at demolition of structures and houses or taxation.

He said the field officers had been asked to re-number houses and structures whose numbering had been rubbed.

Mr Ansah said the problem of shortage of questionnaires was being addressed adding that everything was on course and expressed hope that the exercise would end in two weeks as scheduled.
