Koforidua CNC project stalling since 1964

The Director of the Koforidua Centre for National Culture (CNC), Mr Ebo Kessie has complained about the 50-year-delay in completing the building for the centre.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview during a tour of the project, Mr Ebo Kessie said the project, which was started in 1964, and had three components - administration block, theater/Auditorium and backstage structure, and a pavilion.

He said funds from the Government could not match the total cost of the project, and since 1999, only the administration block had been partially completed for official purposes.

Mr Kessie said GH¢ 50.000.00 was allocated in 2009, for the project but the money had not been released for the continuation of the project since 2010.

He said currently the auditorium was roofed with all plastering works done and the Center was using its internally generated funds to have the conference room refurbished to suit modern standards.
