Kofi Ghana Gets Tough

The Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive and former member of the GhanaHomePage Forum SIL, Mr. Maxwell Kofi Jumah, has warned staff and workers of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) against the practice of leaking documents of the assembly to the public.

He described as worrying the systematic leakage of official documents to the public and warned of drastic sanctions against those who will be caught.

Addressing a durbar of workers of KMA on Monday, Kofi Jumah said that, some officials of the various departments do not take a proactive interest in what goes on in their outfit and cited on instance where he visited one of the offices on a Saturday and found the doors unlocked and ledger and receipt books left in the open.

"I picked some the books and took them away but for two weeks I never heard anyone complaining about the loss of the books", he said.

The KMA boss also expressed disgust at the pull him down attitude of some of the workers and said not meaningful development can be achieved in such a hostile and unfriendly environment. Kofi Jumah answering questions from the workers said the KMA intends to build apartments for tits staff and also offer loans to the vulnerable ones to support the education of their children.

He announced that a new office, complex for the KMA will be built soon to ease the congestion at the present administrative office.
