The Deputy Governor of Kisumu County in Kenya Dr Matthew Owili has expressed keen interest in partnering with GhanaWeb to explore ways of boosting tourism between Ghana and Kenya for the mutual benefit of both countries.

Speaking on the sidelines of the ongoing FESTAC event, the Deputy Governor noted that just like Kenya, Ghana possesses enormous tourism potential, much of which remains untapped and unexplored. He emphasized that collaboration with GhanaWeb would be instrumental in identifying and showcasing these sites to attract global attention and potential investors.

“Ghana’s tourism potential is vast, yet many areas are still underdeveloped. With GhanaWeb’s internationally recognized platform and professional information service, these sites can be marketed effectively to the world, drawing both tourists and investors,” he stated.

The Deputy Governor held a meeting with GhanaWeb CEO, David Antwi, during which the two explored avenues for cooperation.

Antwi welcomed the initiative and pledged GhanaWeb’s support for any mutually beneficial partnership.

“Tourism is one of the sectors with the capacity to create jobs and transform communities. We are open to collaborations that will highlight Ghana’s hidden treasures and strengthen ties between Ghana and Kenya,” Antwi said.

The proposed partnership is expected to create synergies in promoting tourism, leveraging digital platforms to project Ghana and Kenya’s cultural and natural heritage to a global audience.
