Kintampo Zongo Nassara Club inaugurated

Kintampo (B/A) May 31, GNA - Mr. Yaw Adjei-Duffour, Deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, has inaugurated the Kintampo Zongo branch of the Nassara Club of the NPP with a call on members to be disciplined and to eschew hooliganism and violent acts.

He commended the 1,005 registered members of the club for showing appreciation for the good governance of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Government and coming together to rally behind the party leadership for the country's accelerated development.

The Deputy Regional Minister cautioned members to avoid activities and attitudes that would put the name of the Club into disrepute and urged the Executives to form more branches in the district to rope in more people to support the government and to vote for the party in the December elections.

Mr Adjei-Duffour advised them to remain faithful and committed to the Party and never to allow themselves to be deceived by opposing politicians with mouth-watering promises since "the opposition has nothing better to offer than the ruling Government".

Mr. Ibrahim Ahmed, Brong-Ahafo Regional Coordinator of the Club, explained that the club, formed in the Zongo communities, aimed at among others things educating the people about the policies of the Government and to help them come abreast with national issues.

He expressed concern about opposition propaganda during the 2000 electioneering campaigns that the NPP considered residents of Zongos as aliens and would be deported if it won the elections.

That propaganda was false and unfounded, Mr Ahmed said and asked Zongo communities to feel free and to stay peacefully as they were part of the country.

In a welcoming address, Mr James Kwabena Bomfeh, District Chief Executive, cautioned members against political violence and other negative attitudes that could cast a slur on the image of the Club and the party.

"Members should be united and co-operate in sharing ideas to ensure a resounding victory for the NPP in the December polls to enable the government to continue with its good works", he said.

The Kintampo Constituency Chairman of the Party Mr Ampem Darko, who presided, praised the leadership of the Club for organizing the people of the Zongo community to come together to support the NPP government. The executives of the Club are Mr Rakim Abu Seth, Chairman, Mr Adu Baah Agyapong, popularly known as Dr. Patapaa, Vice-Chairman, Mr. Yusif Ibrahim, Secretary, Madam Ashietu, Treasurer and Mr. Sumala Ibrahim, Organiser.

Others are Mr. Tanko Issah, Assistant Organiser, Madam Mua Amina, Women's Organiser, Mr. Alhassan Abu, Propaganda Secretary and Mr. Adamu Iddirisu, Porter.
