Kintampo Falls disaster: Accusations did not make sense – Invisible Forces

The governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) private security arm, Invisible Forces say they are happy a recent report of investigations on the freak accident at the Kintampo Waterfall has exonerated them.

At least 18 people, mainly Senior high school students, from the Wenchi Methodist SHS perished after a large tree fell on them at Kintampo, waterfall in March.

The students were swimming during a storm when the freak accident happened.

The Chief of Kyeremankoma, where the site is located, alleged that the Invisible Forces were responsible for the disaster that happened as they evicted all tour guides after the NPP won the 2016 elections, in the weeks leading up to the March 2017 disaster which claimed 18 lives.

But the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Catherine Afeku, stated on the floor of Parliament that the Municipal Assembly was firmly in control of the tourist site.

Commenting on the development on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM, Brong Ahafo regional Coordinator of the Invisible forces, Mohammed Sallu told host Fiifi Banson that they were being hounded unjustifiably.

“We won’t give the NPP administration a bad name. We came to the political scene just to provide security for our party and protect the interest of the youth within the party. If we were to respond to the NDC’s violence especially during the elections, we would by now be running amok in the streets, but we have restrained ourselves all this period. However, we are happy the investigations into the matter exonerated us, because it did not make sense that we were blamed for a natural disaster that happened”
