'King of Ghana' in Bangalore

According to zeenews.com, an Indian internet site, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, King of Akyem Abuakwa, King of Ghana is one of several leaders from across the globe attending the silver jubilee of the Art of Living foundation in Bangalore, India.

The 'King of Ghana' said half the world's population lived in grinding poverty and there was hatred and racial and tribal conflicts and wondered, "how come we cannot live together". Guru Ravi Shankar has taught us that "we can live in peace and love".

Leaders from all over the world speak at Art of Living

Bangalore, Feb 19: Leaders from across the globe spoke against human conflicts and hatred and turned the spotlight on the concept of love and peace, as tens of thousands of people celebrated the silver jubilee of the Art of Living foundation for the second day today.

It was another day of spiritual glory as the event saw the confluence of religious and spiritual leaders of different faiths, guided meditation by Sri Sri Ravishankar, founder of the Art of Living foundation, discourses by religious leaders and Vedic Chantings.

At the Jakkur airstrip on the outskirts of Bangalore, it was a sea of humanity as people from different parts of the world who have come in thousands mingled with their Indian counterparts, highlighting the sense of oneness and unity.

Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, King of Akyem Abuakwa, King of Ghana, said half the world's population lived in grinding poverty and there was hatred and racial and tribal conflicts and wondered, "how come we cannot live together". "We can feel oneness here. We have brought love from Pakistan", said two representatives from Pakistan, drawing lusty cheers from the crowd. Monika Griefahn, member of the European Parliament, said the dialect of cultures was functioning and hailed Ravi Shankar for bringing people together without indoctrination.

Governors T N Chaturvedi (Karnataka), Nawal Kishore Sharma (Gujarat), Vishnu Sadashiv Kokje (Himachal Pradesh), Shyamlal Datta (Nagaland) and Sudershan Agarwal (Uttaranchal), Union Minister for Petroleum Sushilkumar Shinde and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu were present.

Ravi Shankar was also honoured with Mongolian Prime Minister's award presented by Health Minister of Mongolia Tugsjargal Gandi. A message from the Mongolian Prime Minister, hailing his contributions, was read out.

The event, which saw the participation of more than 11,000 foreigners, ended today with a valedictory address by President A P J Abdul Kalam. He said ?I greet all the members of Art of Living?. He added that he also liked the message of Art of Living that life is sacred, celebrate life, share whatever you have, broaden your vision.
