King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II is rightful Ga Mantse – Queen mothers, Asafoianyεmεi

The Ga Mantse Palace, along with the Ga Queen Mothers (Manyεmεi) and Asafoianyεmεi, have reaffirmed King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II as the rightful and legitimate Ga Mantse.

In a metrotvonline.com report on June 18, 2025, the traditional leaders stressed that the King’s enstoolment was conducted in full accordance with Ga custom and tradition and was legally recognised through official gazettement under Ghanaian law.

“As custodians of Ga tradition and culture, we declare without hesitation that King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II is the rightful and legitimate Ga Mantse,” the report said.

The queen mothers referenced a difficult period in Ga history under the reign of King Tackie Tawiah III, which they described as marred by instability.

They cited the unlawful breach of the Ga Stool Room and the forceful removal of sacred items from the palace as acts that undermined the traditional structures of leadership.

Also, they highlighted the endorsement of King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II by the late Ga Manye, Naa Dedei Omaedru II, who described him as ‘comely, calm, clever, civilised, and a true Ga Maŋtsɛ.’

According to the leaders, her proclamation held significant customary authority and was final in matters of succession.

The leaders urged the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs to protect the peace and stability currently being restored under King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, and to uphold truth, justice, and tradition.

The Asafoianyεmεi praised the king’s leadership, saying it had brought about unity, strategic development, cultural renewal, and a deepened sense of Ga identity.

They also dismissed Adama Latse’s claim to the Ga Stool, describing his alleged gazettement as fraudulent, while calling for an immediate investigation into the matter.

The traditional leaders concluded by expressing their unwavering loyalty to King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, emphasising that the future of the Ga State depends on preserving tradition, unity, and legitimate leadership.
