King Of Peace Is Having Unending Rest

It’s All Over

He paid his due in the academia; he never disappointed anybody in his political career; and above all, he served his maker and fellow human beings with truth and humility.

But finally, it is all over. The late President John Evans Atta Mills was last Friday buried, at the “Asomdwee Park” in Accra, after burial service at the Independence Square.

He was laid in state at the Banquet Hall for three days, for people from far and near to pay their last respect- to the man so much loved for his desire to be at peace with all and sundry, even those who were not so much comfortable with him. The funeral and burial activities of the late President would go down in the annals of Ghana’s, Africa’s and the world history, as the period that many hearts were shattered.

It was so, because, never in the history of Ghana, under the eagle watch of Africa and the world, had a sober-minded and peace-loving President been at the helm of affairs.

The three-day funeral and burial event brought together top flight figures within Ghana, Africa and the world, to mourn late President Mills, who was also the Commander- in- Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces.

Tears filled the eyes of many; others could not simply fathom why the almighty God would not allow the King of Peace to live longer.

The late President died on July 24, 2012 at the 37 Military Hospital at 2:15pm, when checked in at the hospital after he was taken ill at the Osu Castle seat of government.

His death brought a solemn atmosphere that had eluded Ghana for some time now all because of politics of character assassination, vilification and insults. Of course, the late President received the majority of those ill-punches but not even once did he respond to those vitriolic attacks; but always concentrated on his “Better Ghana Agenda”.
