Kennedy Agyapong angry at Rawlings

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong is not happy with the silence of ex-President Rawlings in the wake of gross corruption by some leading officials of the Mahama administration.

He insisted that corrupt practices in the Acheampong’s regime in the late 1970s forced Mr Rawlings to stage a Coup d e’tat.

Mr Agyapong said though he frowns on Coup d e’tat, the ex-Ghana leader, who is noted for his outburst, should condemn the rampant corruption in government.

The Assin Central MP said Mr Rawlings did not hesitate to condemn corruption and other bad practices which occurred during the Mills administration.

“Where is Rawlings,” he asked on Nyhira FM in Kumasi. Former President Rawlings was critical of former President Mills. His rampant outburst against the government earned him a nickname “Mr Boom”.

Mr Agyapong said Mr Rawlings was silent because members of his political party were involved.

The Assin Central MP said Mr Rawlings’ quietness on pressing national issues was unusual. Touching on other national issues, Mr Agyapong, flatly debunked claims that he intends to cause commotion in the country.

Setting the records straight, the NPP bigwig noted that his recent comments had nothing to do with instigating the youth and for that matter the public to cause commotion in the country, stressing that corrupt practices by officials should be condemned.
