Kejetia roads and terminal to be completed by December

The Kumasi Kejetia roads re-habilitation project and the re-construction of the bus terminal are to be completed by December, this year.

Mr Samuel Nuamah-Donkor, Ashanti Regional Minister, who announced this during an inspection tour of a number of roads undergoing rehabilitation in the Metroplis said the World Bank sponsored projects are expected to ease traffic congestion at Kejetia and the central market areas when completed. Mr Nuamah-Donkor said the Bank had approved submissions for the final phases of the projects. Mr J.B. Quarcoo, Metropolitan Engineer of the Department of Urban Roads said Messrs Limex Bau, the contractors engaged on the projects have now overcome their managerial problems and have given the assurance that they were poised to complete the project by December.

He said the road rehabilitation works would include the provision of traffic lights. Mr Quarcoo said the department was undertaking a study into further ways of decongesting both vehicular and human traffic in the main business area of the city. The Minister also inspected work on the Ahodwo-Daban road being rehabilitated at a cost of 53 million cedis.
