The Central East Regional Police Commander, Francis Nchor, has announced plans to close the Kasoa Roundabout-Ngleshie Amanfro section of the N1 Highway, to motorists at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 21, 2026, to allow for a procession by the Muslim community in the area as part of the celebration of the Eid-ul-Fitr.
According to a statement issued by the Police Command on Friday March 20, 2026, they advised motorists to take note of diversions, reduce speed, drive with caution and follow Police directives on accessing alternative routes to ease traffic as they may encounter some delays on the aforementioned routes.
“The general public is urged to cooperate with Police officers detailed for duty to ensure a peaceful and successful celebration,” the statement said.

The procession will have the Kasoa Odikro Nai Sani and all sub-chiefs and traditional leaders in the Islamic tradition either riding horses or mounting vehicles march through the Central Business District of Kasoa starting from the Odupongkpehe Zongo to the Amanfro U-turn and back.
This usually generates heavy traffic gridlock lasting several hours.
The Western by-pass from Tuba Junction through to Kakraba Junction-Sapato Junction on the Winneba Highway may serve as an appropriate option for motorists traveling beyond Kasoa.
“Equally, the Krispol City-New Market-Amanfro-Official Town route may also be an option for motorists,” the statement said.
