The Kasena-Nankana West District wing of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) has undertaken a sensitization tour of the Paga Border to educate the public on the deadly Coronavirus Disease (COVID- 19).

The tour is part of a series of measures and exercises that would be undertaken by the wing to help curtail the spread of the virus at the border which is a major entry point to the country.

The wing, under the leadership of the District coordinator, Aputara Akasoba Jeremiah, visited shops, homes, the lorry station and small groups of people and held educative discussions to create the awareness on the pandemic.

They distributed nose masks and also provided ‘Veronica Buckets’ and some disinfectants at vantage points at the border and Paga market for the public to encourage handwashing.

Mr. Aputara addressing Journalists after the exercise said the NABCO upon realizing that people around the border area had little knowledge about the outbreak of the disease, decided to engage the service of the NABCO Heal Ghana trainees to educate them.

He said: “the idea to undertake this exercise came upon one of our visits to the border with our regional coordinator, Jambeidu Issahaku Khan. We were initially there to see how our trainees at the Paga border were being taken care of in this outbreak. But while there, we realized upon our interaction with
the people who were at the border that, very few of them even knew what the disease was about and the precautionary measures”.

“So I thought that as NABCO coordinator in a district that is right by the border, we needed to also do something as nation builders, so I used my heal Ghana trainees who are health professionals to educate the people”. He explained.

He said the wing has also tasked the team that is taking the Digital Property Address System (DPAS) in the district to educate more people on the virus as they go about their duties.

Mr. Aputara, who doubles as the deputy Chiana-Paga constituency chairman for the NPP, urged the people to inculcate good hygienic practices in their daily activities to avoid contracting and spreading the disease.

He also pleaded with the people to go strictly by the directives of the government, which is making frantic efforts to control the spread of the disease, to mitigate its possible devastations.

He noted that the NABCO in the district was hugely committed to its sensitization exercise and would continue to other areas to ensure overwhelming awareness is achieved. He urged people to support the
exercise.
