Karbo's tape is "serious" than Gyan's tape- Kwesi Pratt

In this political era of secret tapes popping up from every angle, many are those who have proclaimed that the content in Yaw Boateng Gyan's tape stands tall as it enchants a vicious plot by the NDC’s National Organizer to destabilize the country’s peace ahead of this year’s election.

In a fascinating approach to the latest secret tape streaming on various media outlets, the Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., emphatically stated that after listening to the said Karbo tape, he could conclude that the content poses a “far more serious” compared to that of Mr. Gyan.

“I have listened to the tape, and some of the things on the tape are exceedingly troubling…these are more serious matters, in fact, far more serious than some of the statements attributed to Yaw Boateng Gyan and I would be surprised if we just let it go”, Mr. Pratt stated.

National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Anthony Abaayifa Karbo, has been accused by a pro-NDC youth group, Research and Advocacy Platform (RAP), of planning to use mercenaries “from some neighbouring West African countries and beyond to ‘instigate’ violence during the elections”.

Though the NPP activist says the allegations are "a complete fabrication and concoction", the managing editor of the Insight newspaper suggests that the nation should simply apply science to authenticate who was behind the recording.

In a chat with Shamima Muslim on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, Mr. Pratt held forth that if our security services lacked equipment to analyze the tape and the need arose for the said tape to be sent outside the country for authentication so be it.

He congratulated the leadership of the New Patriotic Party for taking the bold and matured step to do an internal investigation of Karbo’s tape but advised them to also allow the state agencies and institutions to play their role in the matter.

“When the Yaw Boateng Gyan tape came out, opponents of the National Democratic Congress raised hell and insisted that he should be arrested, he should be interrogated and so on...subsequently, he was invited by the security services, he was interrogated and the tape was examined.

The security services came to the conclusion that there was nothing untoward about the thing that he said and that they didn’t constitute a threat and so on. In the same vein, I would expect that Anthony Karbo would be investigated properly”,he noted.
