Ten students of the Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI) have been arrested over Sunday's [20 October 2019] protest in the school.

The Manhyia Divisional Police Commander, ACP Kwaku Buah, told Kumasi FM's Elisha Adarkwah that the students are currently in their custody.

The form-three students of the school on Sunday protested against the school authorities.

The protest started after some teachers seized some unprescribed uniforms of the students during prep hours.

The students became agitated, broke into the school's storeroom and picked cutlasses and machetes and started attacking the teachers and vandalising the school properties.

The properties vandalised include teachers' bungalow, departmental blocks and five cars belonging to the teachers.

One of the teachers got injured and has been given a medical form to go to the hospital, ACP Kwaku Buah said.

According to him, they will maintain the police presence in the school.

Academic activities have come to a halt in the school.
