KONKOMBA - KRACHI CASE

Konkomba Chiefs and opinion leaders in the Krachi District as well as the Chiefs and elders of Krachi and Nchumuru have signed a memorandum of understanding at Kete Krachi. The memorandum described as baseless and unfounded, rumours that the Konkombas have planned to attack the Krachis and Nchumurus. It said the Konkombas are not planning and have no intention to attack either the Krachis or Nchumurus over the payment of land tolls. The memorandum emphasized that any misunderstanding between the Krachis and Nchumurus on one hand and the Konkombas on the other should be settled through dialogue or the courts. It said mistrust should be a thing of the past and any breach of the accord should be blamed on the signatories. The six representatives of the Konkombas, who signed or thumb-printed the document, included the chiefs of Banda, Borae Number Two and Chinderi. The other four signatories are the Krachi Wura, the Bejamsehene, the Amankrado Krachi and the Tankrenkuhene Grubi. At the signing ceremony, the national President of the Konkomba Development Association, Mr.. Bugri Naabu, appealed to the Krachi Wura to elevate at least five Konkomba Chiefs from the Krachi District and about the same number from the Nkwanta District to the Krachi Traditional Council. This, he said, will not only promote cordial relations among all the citizens, but also bridge the communication gap between the Konkombas, Krachis and Nchumurus. Mr.. Bugri Naabu thanked the government for providing all the means to ensure peace, harmony and stability in the district.
