KNUST Suicide: MP’s daughter to be buried March 4

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) student who committed suicide on campus will be buried on Saturday March 4, 2017 at Petransa in the Ashanti region.

Adwoa Agyarkwa Anyimadu- Antwi who was the daughter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Asante Akim central constituency Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi hanged herself to death in her hostel room according to her colleague course mates who are also pursuing petrochemical engineering.

The 18-year old first year student was found dead on Friday morning in her hostel room with a rope fastened to her neck and hanging from the ceiling.

It is unclear what might have triggered the suicide but sources at KNUST campus say she failed one of her courses and couldn’t bear the shame hence the suicide.

A note, the deceased left behind states ‘am sorry to disappoint you mummy and daddy for not being the girl you want me to be’.

Meanwhile, some NPP members, MPs and ministers such as MP for Sunyani constituency and Minister for Employment Ignatius Baffour, Dan Botwe MP for Okere constituency and Minister for Regional Reorganisation and Development and the former MP for Oforikrom constituency Elizabeth Agyeman on Saturday visited the deceased family to commiserate with them in Kumasi.

Police have launched investigations into the matter.
