The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has called off the swearing in of President Nana Akufo Addo’s newly appointed assembly members.

These 44 assembly members will be making up the constitutional 30% government appointees to the assembly.

The president last week revoked the appointments of all government appointed assembly members including the presiding member, following the amendment of the local government act.

Monday’s swearing in ceremony was to be followed by processes to appoint two members as delegates to represent the Assembly in the election of Council of State membership for the Ashanti region.

But the Public Relations Officer for the KMA Godwin Okuma Nyame has told Ultimate News the meeting cannot come off because the Assembly has not yet received the full list of the government appointees.
