KMA Mayor sworn into office

Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei Mensah, has sworn into office the new Mayor of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Mr. Osei Asibey Antwi.

The colourful ceremony, which was held at the Regional Coordinating Council on Thursday, April 13, 2017, brought together the clergy, traditional leaders and some supporters of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Taking the mayor through the various Oaths of Office, the regional minister urged Hon. Osei Asibey Antwi to avoid partisanship in his approach to issues.

He reminded him of the daunting task ahead of him.

He was however, optimistic that his tenure would see acceleration of businesses in the region.

The mayor on his part promised to justify the confidence reposed in him.

He also expressed his profound gratitude to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II former Kumasi Mayor, Nana Akwasi Agyemang, and the Regional Chairman of the NPP.

“The honeymoon is over,” he noted, assuring the people that he will work hard to restore Kumasi to its former glory as the ‘Garden City’ of West Africa.
