KKMA holds second municipal teachers’ awards day

The Kpone –Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA) in collaboration with the Municipal Education Directorate has held its second municipal teachers’ award day to recognize outstanding local teachers.

The award day is the second since 2014 and was on the theme, “The right to education means the right to a qualified teacher, the role of stake holders.” Delivering the keynote address, Mr Solomon Tettey Appiah, Municipal Chief Executive ( MCE), said teachers played an important role in developing every human institution and must be awarded right here on earth.

He added that government would continue to provide the needed resources to equip teachers with the requisite skills to impact knowledge in the population.

Mr Appiah further advised that, stakeholders must support and create a conducive environment for the teachers in the Municipality.

The MCE enumerated projects the Municipal Assembly had handed over to the education directorate for use, which included, a six-unit classroom block in Kubekro, a day care centre for kindergarten pupils in Michel camp, three unit storey building for the Kpone Methodist Junior High School.

Mr. Dickson Delanyo klu, Municipal Education Director, thanked the teachers for their contribution towards education in the Municipality, with a call on them to justify the awards given them.

Mr.Klu again noted that, the awards would motivate the teachers to do more to prepare the students for future challenges adding that government had introduced new educational curriculum for primary schools in the country which teachers must be conversant with.

The Municipal Education Director stated that quality education could not be achieved without qualified teachers with a call on the teachers to be professionals in all their teaching endeavours.

Thirty teachers were awarded with brand new chest refrigerators and half piece of cloth each for their enormous contributions to education in the Kpone –Katamanso Municipality in 2015, 2016 and 2017, in that order. The categories were: General, Primary and Junior High School education.
