KATH closes door to new patients

Kumasi, Oct 8, GNA - The industrial action being embarked upon by members of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has begun having its effect on the operations of public health facilities in the Ashanti Region. The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has announced the closure of its doors to new patients who will want to seek health care services with effect from Saturday, October 8.

A statement signed by Mr Kwame Frimpong, Public Relations Officer of KATH, said the hospital is not in a position to accept new patients in view of the strike action by members of GMA. It advised members of the general public to seek healthcare services from private clinics till further notice. The statement, however, assured the general public that management has instituted contingency measures to help take care of patients already on admission.

It is the hope of the management that the impasse that has led to the strike situation will be quickly resolved by the stakeholders to ensure a speedy resumption of normal services at the hospital.
