Embattled judges John Ajet-Nasam and Ernest Obimpeh have been dismissed from the judicial service following their involvement in the judicial scandal.

A statement signed by the judicial secretary Alex Poku-Acheampong Tuesday said President John Mahama signed their dismissal following the recommendation of the five-member impeachment committee that probed their conduct in the scandal uncovered by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye PI investigative firm.

“This follows President Mahama’s acceptance of the recommendations of a five-member impeachment committee that investigated their conduct in accordance with Article 146 of the 1992 constitution,” the statement said.

In August 2015 Tiger Eye PI led by Anas petitioned the Chief Justice following the judicial corruption scandal to impeach the indicted judges.

Meanwhile, the president has directed the removal of his lordship Justice Ringo Cass Akurugu Azumah from office as a justice of the High Court on grounds of stated misbehavious and competence.

“Several complaints of absenteeism were filed against the judge by users of the court and a leading legal firm”.
