Joseph Yammin to lead School Feeding caterers to court against Government

Joseph Yamin Joseph Yamin

Former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister will in the coming days lead caterers of the School Feeding Program to court with the aim of demanding full payments from government.

Joseph Yammin says government has paid only seven days out of the one hundred and twenty days owed caterers of the school feeding program under the erstwhile John Mahama administration.

According to Joseph Yammin, Gender and Social Protection Minister, Otiko Afisa-Djaba last month promised to pay all arrears owed the caterers after government cancelled all contracts entered into with the caterers.

Yammin observes, failure by government to pay off the whole arrears is negatively affecting the caterers as creditors and suppliers have been chasing them for payment of services rendered.

The former Deputy Sports Minister was speaking to host of Abusua Nkommo, Kwame Adinkra in the wake of claims by the Gender Minister that government will clear all school feeding arrears by the end of October.

Joseph Yammin says, “the school feeding caterers were lied to by the minister when she claimed government was going to the whole arrears but ended up paying only seven days out of the total one hundred and twenty days.”

“As I am talking to you now, the caterers are suffocating under huge debts because their expectations of being paid off was not met.”

“Banks and suppliers are chasing them seriously for their monies and these caterers can’t pay because government disappointed them,” the aspiring Ashanti Regional Chairman for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), revealed.

Joseph Yammin has meanwhile hinted the caterers may be heading to the law courts to compel government to make full payments to them.
